Our Very First Contact

 

For those interested in finding out if Highpoint Mind & Movement would benefit you, I offer a complimentary 30-minute consultation via phone, virtually, or in-person. This gives you a chance to ask any and all questions you might have, to learn more about Brain Gym® and the other techniques I use, and what to expect from the process. We’ll discuss your needs and determine if we will be a good fit for working together.

 

Your First Appointment

 

Private sessions begin with a 1-hour appointment where I’ll learn more about you (or your child). We will go over important history and background information, discuss in detail what brings you in, and what you hope to gain. Together we will set specific, measurable goals that will guide us to your desired outcome or that of your child.

CHILDREN

When working with children, I meet with the parent/guardian alone at this first appointment so that we can talk freely about your child. Both parents/guardians are welcome and encouraged to be involved.

 

On-going Sessions

 

Each subsequent session runs 45 to 60 minutes and will include setting the stage for change by identifying your goal or intention for the session and determining the appropriate sensory-motor movements for this goal. As I then guide you through the movements, you will likely be aware of a shift in thoughts, feelings, physical sensations, and attitude. Pre- and post-measures are taken to track the changes experienced.

AT HOME

The movement patterns used to refresh and “rewire” the brain-body connections are extremely simple. They can easily be done at home to support the deep work experienced in session. Over time you may develop your own personal toolkit of refresher techniques available whenever needed.

CHILDREN

Some children will require a full session but often they only need 30 to 40 minutes. Abbreviated sessions for children are offered at a reduced rate.

Children are typically accompanied by their parent or guardian as a silent observer. This allows the parent/guardian to become familiar with the process and the movements, which can, if desired, be incorporated into a routine at home. It is also very rewarding for a parent to observe the changes their child is experiencing.

 

Milestones

 

After 8 sessions, we will take a session to review the goals we established and evaluate the progress made in reaching these goals. We can then revise or establish new goals as needed and determine how many additional sessions may be helpful.

Generally, both adults and children need about 10 to 20 sessions to feel satisfied that they have achieved the change they want, have the tools needed to maintain their new level of being, or to continue working toward their goals.
